Body of elderly man found in Rice County lake

Authorities in Rice Lake found the body of an elderly man in a local lake Tuesday morning.

Rice County Sheriff's Office says that it was called just after 9 a.m. to 5285 Kelly Lake Trail at Kelly/Dudley lakes in response to a suspicious motorcycle.

Deputies learned the motorcycle may have belonged to an elderly man who often snorkels in the lake. When deputies arrived, they saw what looked like a body about 100 yards east of the dock.

Rice County deputies and members of the Rice County Dive Team confirmed a man was face down in the water and unresponsive. Police say it looked as if he had been there for a while and appeared to have drowned.

Police say the death is not considered suspicious but that the case is being investigated further. The victim's name is not being released at this time.
