Bon Iver to perform at Kamala Harris rally in Eau Claire

Vice President and presumptive Democratic presidential nominee Kamala Harris is heading to Eau Claire, Wis. this week, and she'll be joined by a Grammy-winning local.

Justin Vernon, the creative force behind Bon Iver , will perform at Harris' Aug. 7 rally, Billboard reports . The west Wisconsin visit is the second stop on a tour of battleground states where Harris will reportedly be joined by Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz, who on Tuesday was reportedly selected as Harris' vice-presidential running mate.

While Vernon hadn't, until Billboard's report, shown any overt support of Harris for president, he has frequently supported progressive causes (the Bon Iver Twitter feed has a long list of causes the band has supported) and recently threw support to local assembly candidate Nick Butler . Coincidentally — or maybe not — Butler is holding a "Get Out the Vote" rally in downtown Eau Claire the same day as Harris' event. Butler will host the event with live performances from Them Coulee Boys and others.

In the past, Vernon and Bon Iver have put their support behind Bernie Sanders, helped out with Planned Parenthood benefits, and hosted concerts aimed at voter registration during the 2020 election cycle.
