Public forum held in search for new Bridgeport Public Schools superintendent; search narrowed to 2 candidates

The Bridgeport School District is getting closer to hiring a permanent superintendent as it held a public forum Wednesday where superintendent finalists answered questions.
The community was invited to come out and hear from the finalists for superintendent.
A pool of 19 applicants has now been narrowed down to two finalists -- Alyshia Perrin and Carmela Levy-David, according to the Bridgeport Superintendent's office.
A final round of interviews is expected to be conducted.
The search for a new superintendent began in August 2022 when Superintendent Michael Testani announced he'd be taking a job with Fairfield Public Schools.
Paul Laurence Dunbar School Principal Perrin has been serving as interim superintendent since.
The Board of Education is aiming to name a permanent superintendent by the middle of the month.
