A disturbing incident took place in the Brentwood Residential Center for Girls, where a 15-year-old girl was allegedly raped by a youth support specialist assigned to monitor her room. The specialist, identified as Ovzie Cannon, was indicted on rape charges after sexually abusing the girl and providing her with edibles containing cannabinoids. WATERBURY, CT - Just before 10pm on March 15, 2023, the Waterbury Fire Department responded to 61 E. Farm Road for a vacant house fire. First companies on scene found heavy fire showing from the 1st floor of an unoccupied 2 1/2 story wood frame. The fire quickly spread to all 3 floors and the members took a defensive stance attacking the fire from the outside. Eversource was also called to the scene with a line worker due to a fallen power line that landed on top of Waterbury’s new Tower Ladder 2 while firefighters were operating the turntable. Members had to remain in place on the apparatus until the line worker could cut power to the fallen line rendering operations safe for the members on the truck.
