Vikings Fall in First Round of CIF-SDS Playoffs
CARLSBAD — The Holtville High softball team was knocked out of the first round of the playoffs last week, losing 1-0 to Carlsbad High. The Vikings (6-18-1) kept the game tied for six innings, thanks to a strong pitching effort from Brooke Strahm. Holtville had its lone hit of the game in the top of the sixth, when Kenzie Price ripped a two-out double. However, the Vikings were unable to plate Price and the scoreless tie was broken in the bottom of the inning when the Lancers Gabby Nevarez took Strahm deep for the game’s lone run.
