Three shot, one dead in Brandywine

BRANDYWINE, MD – A man was fatally shot Wednesday night in Brandywine. The victim was identified as Joe Louis Washington, a 32-year-old local resident.

On the evening of Wednesday, around 8:45 pm, Seat Pleasant Police Department officers responded to a report of a shooting on the 6000 block of Martin Luther King Jr. Highway. On arrival, they found Mr. Washington outside with a gunshot wound. He was transported to a local hospital where he was declared dead shortly afterwards.

Two additional men, also victims of gunshot wounds, arrived at a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.


Detectives from the Homicide Unit are currently working to identify the suspect or suspects as well as establish a motive for the shooting.

A reward of up to $25,000 is being offered for information leading to an arrest and indictment in this case. The public is encouraged to contact detectives at 301-516-2512 with any information related to this investigation.
