Bradenton woman killed in I-75 accident

After exiting her disabled car on Interstate 75 just north of University Parkway, a 25-year-old Bradenton woman was struck by another car and killed on Monday.

The accident occurred at 4:33 p.m.

The woman's car had stopped while going southbound due to a mechanical issue. The woman, who had been driving the disabled car with a 9-year-old Bradenton girl as a passenger, was standing by the driver's side door with the door open.

A second southbound vehicle, driven by a 20-year-old Sarasota woman, collided with the pedestrian and also the first vehicle. The driver of the second car was not injured.

The 25-year-old Bradenton woman was pronounced dead at the scene. The 9-year-old girl was not injured.

After the second car hit the pedestrian, it veered to the left and collided with a third vehicle, an SUV, before a fourth vehicle ran into the back end of the disabled vehicle. The 40-year-old Naples women, who was driving the SUV, and her 13-year-old and 8-year-old female passengers were not injured. The 21-year-old Bradenton man driving the fourth vehicle was not injured.

The crash is under investigation.
