Arrest made in Boynton Beach hit-and-run crash that happened during prayer vigil
A man is now in police custody for the hit-and-run crash that happened during the vigil for the anniversary of the death of Stanley Davis III.
The Boynton Beach Police Department announced that 18-year-old Jamal Lormejuste was arrested on Wednesday.

In a news release, police stated that after securing a search warrant, investigators found evidence on a cell phone that led them to the home of Lormejuste. Police say he gave detectives a full, detailed confession.
On Dec. 26, 2022, Lormejuste was in a white Chevrolet Camaro that he rented when he struck Bernard Wright.
According to police, Wright had just finished a Facebook Live toward the end of the vigil when he was hit by the Camaro traveling at an excessive speed.
Wright sustained several broken bones from the crash.
Wright's family released a statement Thursday.
“Yesterday an arrest was made in the hit and run travesty of our loved one, noted and respected community leader Bishop Bernard Wright. And while we are grateful the perpetrator has been apprehended, we are committed to seeing that the assailant is prosecuted to the full extent of the law. This has been a tragedy on top of a tragedy that has caused great pain and difficulties for out family. We will not stop fighting for full justice and accountability. Please continue to pray for our family and that Justice is served.”

Boynton Beach police Chief Joseph DeGiulio stated in the news release, "These types of cases are tedious and very difficult to solve. Our Traffic Homicide Investigators did an outstanding job with their investigation which led to this arrest."
