MS Delta, Vicksburg in photos after Winter Storm Fern buries area in ice
In Vicksburg on Monday morning, roads were clear, but trees, power lines and most things high were covered in ice. The weight of ice knocked over trees and power lines, some of which covered roadways. Line crews were still working on some downed lines as of about 10:30 a.m. Heading north to Rolling Fork in the South Delta, a good portion of businesses remained closed or did not have power. Along drive between Vicksburg and Rolling Fork more and more powerlines and trees could be seen on the ground or close to it. Primary roads were mostly clear with the exception of some bridges containing ice which MDOT crews were actively sanding. Roads were not clean in Rolling Fork, which was the site of a devastating tornado in 2023 . The EF-4 tornado struck after dark in March of that year, killing 15 in Rolling Fork and more than 20 statewide.
