2 in custody after police chase ends with vehicle driving into Boyle Co. creek

FORKLAND, Ky. (FOX 56) — An attempted traffic stop turned into a police chase for deputies with the Boyle County Sheriff’s Office.

While attempting to conduct a traffic stop on Forkland Road, deputies said the target vehicle did not stop and proceeded to increase its speed, prompting a chase.

The pursuit continued for about three miles before turning into a creek near the Forkland Community Center. The vehicle came to a stop after authorities said it traveled around 1/4 mile into the creek. Occupants in the vehicle proceeded to attempt to escape on foot.

After being caught while on foot, the occupants briefly struggled before successfully being detained, according to authorities.

One of the occupants of the vehicle was identified as William Hayes by deputies. Hayes had eight active warrants for his arrest, authorities said.
