On Nov. 29, at about 11:38 a.m., the Kandiyohi County Sheriff’s Office learned of a vehicle crash at the intersection of County Roads 5 and 3. Deputies found two vehicles in the west ditch of County Road 5, north of County Road 3, a 2017 Chrysler Pacifica and a 2022 Ford Edge. Investigators determined the Ford Edge had been westbound on County Road 3 when it collided with the northbound Chrysler Pacifica.

(Chippewa County, MN)--A 16-year-old female suffers life-threatening injuries in a crash over the weekend in western Minnesota. According to the Minnesota State Patrol, the crash took place on Sunday on snow and ice covered roads south of Maynard in Chippewa County. A Chevy pick up truck was reportedly travelling northbound on Highway 23 when it lost control on the bridge deck and rolled.

Family makes restoration of pioneer cemetery their mission after big storm. On May 12, 2022, a spring storm blasted across central Minnesota leaving a swath of destruction along its way. Strong winds took down a massive cottonwood and a large boxelder tree in Hegburt Township near Appleton. The United Way of Southwest Minnesota announced a grant of $20,000 will be sent to Reading Corps, an AmeriCorps program of ServeMinnesota. These funds will be used to help cover the cost of three additional Reading Corps tutors in local schools to help prepare elementary students to meet the critical milestones of reading proficiency by the end of the third grade. Over the past 20 years, Reading Corps has helped over 300,000 students achieve reading proficiency.
