Blomkest couple dies, Clara City woman injured in Kandiyohi County collision Wednesday
On Nov. 29, at about 11:38 a.m., the Kandiyohi County Sheriff’s Office learned of a vehicle crash at the intersection of County Roads 5 and 3. Deputies found two vehicles in the west ditch of County Road 5, north of County Road 3, a 2017 Chrysler Pacifica and a 2022 Ford Edge. Investigators determined the Ford Edge had been westbound on County Road 3 when it collided with the northbound Chrysler Pacifica.
Teen suffers life-threatening injuries in a crash on snowy roads
(Chippewa County, MN)--A 16-year-old female suffers life-threatening injuries in a crash over the weekend in western Minnesota. According to the Minnesota State Patrol, the crash took place on Sunday on snow and ice covered roads south of Maynard in Chippewa County. A Chevy pick up truck was reportedly travelling northbound on Highway 23 when it lost control on the bridge deck and rolled.

Strong winds took down a massive cottonwood and a large boxelder tree in Hegburt Township near Appleton. The cottonwood was estimated to be nearly 150 years old and stood near the center of the Waldum Cemetery, the final resting place to over 70 Minnesotans.

Kevin Anundson's State Farm building on the corner of Main and Jefferson Streets in Minneota had a lighting system installed from Voorhees Trimlight of Cottonwood recently. The lights, which can be activated from a smartphone, have been showcasing Minneota school colors of blue and gold. They can also flash red, white and blue for various holidays, green and red for Christmas, or other colors.

The BOLD Warriors girls basketball team hosted the Yellow Medicine East Sting Tuesday night. BOLD held the lead at halftime by a score of 45-11. The Warriors finished the night with a win at their first home game of the season by a final score of 70-22 over the YME Sting.

Friday Finals: Rebels stage huge comeback to top Black Bears
Maryland 4 @ Philadelphia 5: A dominant 3rd period from the Rebels fueled them to a 5-4 comeback victory over the division-leading Black Bears. Maryland’s Jeremi Tremblay and Luke Janus both found the back of the net in the 1st period. In the middle frame, the two teams traded goals, Charles Panchisin and Max Marquette scored for the Rebels while Maryland’s Riley Ruh and Adam Schankula answered to retain that two-goal lead. From there the momentum swung as in the 3rd, Josh Galizia, Julian Brown, and Max Marquette scored consecutive goals and shut out the Black Bears for the victory. Lukas Fursten and Jack Fialkoff combined for 37 saves for the Rebels, Fialkoff being credited with the win. Owen Lepak kept out 25 for the Black Bears.
