Check your backseat!

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – During the summer months, there are several hazards to worry about. In times of high heat, checking behind you before you exit the vehicle is important.

Small children and animals don’t do that great in the heat, and it’s even worse in the car where the temperature can rise exponentially. Accidents happen, but law enforcement say you should start making a habit of checking the back of the vehicle before parking and turning it off.

Ronnie Ward, the public information officer for Bowling Green Police said he remembers specifically a time where an individual forgot their child was in the car while they went in to work. Thankfully it wasn’t a long time but the adult in the situation typically did not drop the child off to the babysitter so that day they just had a lapse of judgement.
