WKU Football hosts Annual Pro Day

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Kahleef Hailassie, Brodric Martin, Jawann Jones, Will Ignot, Daewood Davis and others had an opportunity to work out in front of NFL scouts at WKU’s Pro Day.

The team has been highly successful the last few seasons with bowl wins and guys, like Bailey Zappe and DeAngelo Malone being drafted last year.

“It all comes full circle,” Jones said talking about his tenure on the Hill. “I remember I was taking my official visit in January of 2017, and now it’s 2023, 6 years later. I never knew I would do all the great things that I’ve done here, both on and off the field.”

“I’m a playmaker,” Hailassie said about his play. “I make plays on the ball. I could tackle, I could cover, I could do it all. I’m a smart football player, I’m a team player, so I feel like I could do everything.”

The Lions, Vikings, Titans, and several other team scouts were in attendance and had plenty of questions to ask the man in charge of the program, Western Kentucky Head Coach Tyson Helton.

“I tell you what, scouts have come up to me and, and wanted to know about the guys, and that’s really good to see and they’re really excited about our players,” Helton said. “And so it’s just a great day overall and I thought we represented our brand very well today. And, as far as guys that we’re recruiting, they see how many players we had out here today and the NFL and how many scouts were out here today. It just helps that momentum with us that, hey, you could be that next guy, you know, working out for the scouts. So, it was a, it was a great day.”
