New school employees coming soon

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – House Bill 32 has just become law and it means some good news for those in Kentucky looking for a job, as well as school systems.

State Representative, Kevin Jackson, bill sponsor for House Bill 32 said in Frankfort last week that as an educator for the past 40 years, he wanted to make change to school systems when he got elected, and this bill was the first move to do just that.

Up until now, individuals have had to have a high school diploma to work in the school system, whether it be a custodian or a bus driver. Well now that the bill has become law, these classified positions are more available. With this change, it can benefit special populations as well.

Superintendent of Warren County Public Schools, Rob Clayton, said that this could be a good thing for the international population across Warren County and Bowling Green. Director of Nutritional Services at Barren County Schools echoed the same sentiment, saying she thinks about the older population still in the workforce who might have had to drop out of high school.
