BOURBONNAIS, IL – The Village of Bourbonnais is undergoing a significant update to IL-102 (Main St. NW) under the supervision of the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT). The project’s primary objective is to upgrade the traffic signals at most intersections from the Dairy Queen intersection to Warner Bridge Rd.

The installation of new poles, signal heads, and signal control technology is currently underway, featuring traffic detection cameras that will identify vehicles in the intersection and alert the program accordingly. It’s crucial to note that these cameras are traffic direction cameras and not red light cameras or any kind of traffic enforcement devices.

The construction of the new traffic control system will take up to six weeks, depending on weather conditions.

The project includes updates to all sidewalks at these intersections to current Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) standards, and other sidewalk repairs will be completed. After the sidewalks have been upgraded, the road surface will be repaved.

The IDOT is urging residents to plan their trips accordingly and exercise patience as the renovation work continues. The project will enhance the safety of the sidewalks and roads for the residents and visitors of the Village of Bourbonnais. Drivers are advised to exercise caution and watch for crews working in the area.

The updated traffic control system featuring traffic direction cameras will help maintain the smooth flow of traffic while ensuring the safety of pedestrians and motorists.
