Since taking over as the head coach of the Colorado Buffaloes this offseason, former NFL superstar defensive back Deion Sanders has taken a very aggressive approach to revamping his roster, pushing out a record number of players from his team and replacing them with other players from the transfer portal.

The tactic has been controversial and has led to some criticism from fans, media and even fellow college coaches, but Sanders has stuck to it and defended his strategy throughout, and he recently shared another message about his roster process.

Following Colorado’s spring game, Sanders sent a brutal and clear message to the players leaving his program, telling reporters that the incoming players are “far greater” than the players that are leaving the program through the transfer portal.

“Everybody makes a big deal of what’s not here, but you need to make a big deal of what’s coming. Because what’s coming is far greater than what’s gone,” Sanders

It will certainly be interesting to see how Sanders and the Buffaloes fare this upcoming season after such a roster overhaul, but Sanders also made it clear that he thinks Colorado will “exceed your expectations” this upcoming season. Time will tell if that’s true.
