Remains found in Florida 40 years ago recently linked to Rockville native
Skelatal remains of a homicide victim were found on a Florida beach in 1985 and after 40 years of detective work, St. Johns County police were able to name the person: Mary Alice Pultz. The Rockville native was last seen by her family in 1968 when she left home with a boyfriend. Genealogy was instrumental identifiying Pultz, and police said in a statement that they will continue to investigate her death. [CNN]

Current and former county commissioners, Animal Services staff, leaders from every county municipality and animal lovers expressed their excitement after they saw the first pile of dirt shoveled in Tuesday’s groundbreaking ceremony for the new Putnam County Animal Services Department building, 130 Orie Griffin Blvd. in Palatka.
As Gov. Ron DeSantis mulls vetoes, Volusia, Flagler projects land on budget turkey list
In a state budget comprised of $117.5 billion, Florida TaxWatch has identified 450 "turkeys," or projects that bypassed the normal appropriations process. At least five of the projects identified are from Volusia and Flagler counties, home to two of the Florida House's most powerful members, House Speaker Paul Renner and Appropriations Chair Tom Leek. One of the highest-dollar projects is in historic St. Augustine in St. Johns County, part of Renner's 19th district.

ST. JOHNS COUNTY, Fla. – A St. Augustine man died after a car crash in a St. Johns County roundabout Monday afternoon, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
