While most are focused on the Boston Red Sox's current roster, it's no surprise that many are keeping up with the former Red Sox who have found new homes elsewhere around the MLB.

Former Red Sox shortstop Xander Bogaerts, who's now playing second base for the San Deigo Padres, is near the top of the list of fan favorites in Boston to this day.

While Bogaerts has struggled this year, hitting just .219 with a .581 OPS (both career lows), he just another snag, suffering a fractured shoulder on a play that looked strikingly similar to the one that ended Red Sox shortstop Trevor Story's season in April.

According to San Diego Union Tribune's Kevin Acee , Bogaerts doesn't plan to have surgery and expects to play again in 2024.

All Red Sox fans are hoping that the 31-year-old comes back strong and makes the most out of this down year.
