Unit 3 at 838 East Broadway has garnered plenty of attention in recent years, but the South Boston condo is still a coveted piece of real estate.

The 620-square-foot unit, which is on the market for $499,900, is where the remains of four infants were discovered in a freezer in November 2022, the Globe has reported.

Following the discovery of the infants, authorities determined that the remains were linked to an unrelated homicide that had already gone to trial, the Globe piece continued. The identities of the infants were not revealed at the time. As of Monday, no criminal charges have been filed in the case.

The one-bed, one-bath home, which is located on a corner lot with Medal of Honor Park across the street, is “one of the cheapest units in Southie right now,” said Kristin Weekley of Leading Edge Real Estate, who has the listing and represents the owner’s conservator.

“It’s one of the few that’s under $600,000,” Weekley shared. “It lives very large. You feel very elegant when you’re in there. You feel like you’re in a different time.”

Built in 1869, the French Second Empire property was known as the “Lewis C. Whiton House,” named for its original owner, one of the founders of South Boston Savings Bank. Nearly a dozen steps lead up to the brick building’s front door under an arched entryway.

The first-floor unit welcomes guests in a 38-square-foot foyer, which Weekley cites as one of her favorite features. That leads into a 63-square-foot front hall that flows into the kitchen, which measures 91 square feet. It features white cabinetry and wooden counter space.

A doorway flows into the living room, which measures 277 square feet and boasts nearly floor-to-ceiling windows and hardwood floors.

“The floor-to-ceiling windows are insane. They are so beautiful,” said Weekley, who noted that the unit is the largest in the building. “They have great views of the park, and it just makes the space feel so much bigger.”

The bedroom measures 143 square feet and offers a window and a single-door closet. The 28-square-foot bathroom features white subway tile and a tub/shower combination with a curtain.
