BOSTON (WWLP) – Opening statements in the Karen Read murder trial may not come until next week.

Granby man pleads guilty to crash that killed partner

Courts are only meeting on Wednesday this week. Read is accused of killing her Boston police officer boyfriend, John O’Keefe in Canton back in 2022 by hitting him with her car and leaving him for dead.

Documents say that some of O’Keefe’s hair and pieces of the glass from the drink he was carrying were found stuck under Read’s SUV.

Her defense attorney states that Read has been set up. On Monday, seven more jurors were chosen for her trial, which is more than enough, but due to some of the jurors expressing hardships, the worry is that they may need to drop out.
