If you're looking to make a change to your fitness plan, think about running. Seems this area of the country is among the best spots for runners and honestly we can see why.

There are studies for everything and where to find the best city for runners is apparently something researchers at LawnLove.com looked into. They crunched the numbers to determine the top cities in the US for those looking to get in some miles, and Boston was in the top ten.

Sure, the SouthCoast is still about an hour outside Boston but we think the LawnLove.com reasoning still stands for our smaller, seaside cities and towns.

According to the study, runners ranked their areas based on year round weather conditions, number of running trails, access to public parks and pedestrian fatality rates.

Using those criteria, Boston ranked #8 overall as a running city and tied for first place in the access to public parks category, where they had the highest number of residents within a 10-minute walk of green space.

With so many parks and trails across the SouthCoast as well, not to mention amazing new bike/walking trails like the one in Fairhaven, it's easy to see why our corner of the country would rank just as high as Boston did on this list.

The only other New England city to even crack the Top 100 was Providence, which landed at #62. Their safety ranking and running quality ranking were not as strong as Boston's. Though considering the condition of most Rhode Island roadways, this isn't so surprising either.

So if you are ready to lace up your sneaks this spring and summer for some running, it seems we're living in the right spot.
