Boston Synagogue to Host Boston’s West End Lyric’s ‘The Joys of Music’

By Logan Martell

On June 11, 2023, The Boston Synagogue will launch Boston’s West End Lyric with an inaugural concert, featuring music from opera, as well as Broadway and cabaret music from the Jewish-American songbook.

Titled “The Joys of Music,” the concert is produced by Massachusetts-based Bloch Performing Arts. The artists for the event are baritone Joel Clemens, soprano Julia Pottinger, tenor Brendan Buckley, soprano and producer Jessica Bloch, and pianist Yukiko Oba.

“We are delighted to add West End Lyric to our stable of musical events,” says Susan Schreiner, President of BackRoom Boston. “As a hub for live music in downtown Boston, we are the home for the Boston Festival of New Jewish Music and Klezmer Jams and with West End Lyric are expanding into offering a greater variety of music genres.”

The concert is free to attend, with a suggested donation of $18. The first concert will be held in memory of Bette Siegel, a cherished member of the Boston community and patron of the arts.
