Boothbay’s best backstrokers
On April 11, the Boothbay Special Olympics team traveled to the Bath Area YMCA for the Sagadahoc /Lincoln Area swim meet. All members returned with first place blue ribbons, winning their divisions very proudly. Their coach and volunteers were very happy and so surprised and proud for their efforts. They are off to the State Games on April 26 at t Colby College.
Seahawks hope to continue their winning ways
Last season was one of the best for the Boothbay Region High School boys tennis program. The Seahawks were Mountain Valley Conference champions with a 10-2 record and finished first in the Maine Principals Association’s Class C South division. In the playoffs, however, the Carrabec Cobras bested the Seahawks, 3-2, in the semifinals.
Veteran coach has full roster this season
Alex Arsenault, coach of the Boothbay Region High School girls tennis team for the past 15 years, said he is glad to have enough players to compete in the five matches this coming season after having only enough players for the three singles matches last year. Two of those singles players graduated but returning is the reigning conference most valuable player and one of the top players in the state, Laura Chapman.
