Holmes County Sheriff’s Office charged man with murder following fatal shooting

HOLMES COUNTY, Fla. ( WMBB ) – On Thursday, the Holmes County Sheriff’s office formally charged a man with an open count of murder involving a Bonifay man.

Anthony Hicks Jr. a resident of Kinard, Florida was involved in the shooting death of 25-year-old Marcus Kale Fournier of Bonifay, authorities wrote.

On March 26, at around 4:30 a.m., a car crash turned shooting occurred near Bonifay.

According to the Sheriff’s office, Hicks and another man were driving north on Highway 173 when they flipped their vehicle. Fournier saw the crash and attempted to help. Hicks pulls out a gun, shot, and killed him. It is unknown why he shot Fournier, according to authorities.

Hicks is currently detained at the Calhoun County Jail.

Authorities said Hicks will undergo extradition proceedings to return him to Holmes County to face his charges.

Sheriff Tate said this is an ongoing and active investigation.
