A suspect shoots himself in the head after a police chase comes to an end in North Carolina, according to the Spartanburg County Sheriff's Office.According to SCSO, deputies responded to Boiling Springs Road in Boiling Springs about a trespassing and disturbance call. Deputies say they made contact with the suspect in a parking lot sitting in a vehicle with a handgun in his waistband.The suspect pointed the gun toward deputies and fled the scene, according to deputies.A police pursuit began and the suspect started heading towards North Carolina on I26, deputies say.According to deputies, Landrum Police Department set up vehicle spike strips near Exit 1 on I-26, hitting one of the vehicle's tires.Deputies say the suspect exited I-26 and continued into North Carolina, where the North Carolina Highway Patrol took over the pursuit.The pursuit came to an end when the suspect pulled into the parking lot of Penial Road in Tryon, where the suspect shot himself in the head with his handgun, deputies say.According to deputies, the suspect was flown to Spartanburg Regional by helicopter but there is no word on his condition at this time.Stay with WYFF News 4 as we learn more.
