Weekly Safety Report: Stabbing Death and Carbon Monoxide Levels in Pierre, South Dakota
Two incidents occurred in Pierre, South Dakota this week. The first incident involved a 23-year-old man, David J. Shangreaux Jr., who has been charged with second-degree murder for fatally stabbing a 17-year-old female named Evie Maxey. The police responded to a disturbance call and found the victim already deceased. In the second incident, the Pierre Fire Department was called to the Running's Distribution Center due to elevated carbon monoxide levels. Although the levels were not extremely high, it served as a reminder for the importance of having working carbon monoxide detectors.

Pierre School Board To Meet With District 24 Legislators Before December Meeting
PIERRE, (KCCR) — The Pierre School Board is meeting an hour early this week for it’s annual meeting with the District 24 legislative delegation. That meeting will give school officials time to discuss the upcoming legislative session and how it may impact schools. At 5:30 pm a regular monthly School Board meeting will begin. The seven-time consecutive championship football team will be recognized by the board before considering the consent calendar and hearing comments from Superintendent Dr. Kelly Glodt. Board and public comments will follow as will an update from the Riggs Student Senate. The Board will declare any conflicts of interest and will discuss district achievement with Troy Wiebe. Final action will be taken on a board policy regarding the use of school vehicles and with considering approval of donations, contract items, resignations and an administrative rule waiver. The Pierre School Board will meet with lawmakers at 4:30 pm at the District administration building with the regular meeting starting at 5:30 pm.
