Parts of central Illinois hit by golf ball sized hail
Not everyone saw severe weather Thursday afternoon but areas that did see it had big hail and ominous “Shelf clouds” which are long, horizontal clouds ahead of a line of thunderstorms. Western Fulton County was hard hit with nearly 2-inch hail. Strong winds bent power poles along Route 136 near Table Grove. By the time the storms moved east of the Illinois River, the severe weather had decreased. This system is part of an active weather pattern which could bring a couple of strong storms Saturday afternoon with better chances for severe early next week.
