How to Watch Indiana Women's Basketball Play Miami in NCAA Tournament Second Round

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. — One-seed Indiana women's basketball will take on 9-seed Miami (FL) in the second round of the NCAA Tournament on Monday night at 8 p.m. ET on ESPN2.

This is the final game the Hoosiers will play in Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall this season as the winner of this matchup will head to the regional site in Greenville, S.C. at Bon Secours Wellness Arena.

The Hurricanes spoke about facing Indiana, one of the top teams in the nation, during the second round practice day on Sunday afternoon. Saturday, Miami overcame a 17-point deficit to defeat Oklahoma State 62-61 in the first round hosted in Bloomington, Ind.

"We have experience from last year, and so we know what it takes to compete against a great team like that, so we just have to come locked in from the start and not fall behind like we did last night," sophomore guard Jasmyne Roberts said.

Miami is led by senior guard Haley Cavinder's 12.8 points per game as one of two Hurricanes averaging double-figure scoring. Graduate student forward Destiny Harden leads the battle of the boards with 5.8 rebounds per contest.

Roberts said when facing Indiana, the Hurricanes will need to rely on their defense. Head coach Katie Meier in her 18th season with Miami couldn't agree more.

"They just score," Meier said. "They're a really prolific scoring team. Almost 18 assists a game, which for us — that threatens us, okay, the fact that there's a team that will share the ball that much and can get that many assists in a game. It's very difficult to defend, no matter what your defensive style is. Teams that will share the ball, that makes them great."

The Hoosiers have 567 assists this season compared to their opponents' 346. Junior guard Chloe Moore-McNeil leads the charge with 151 while graduate student guard Grace Berger adds 132 on the season.

Meier said her group needs to stop Berger on Monday.

"Take away her pull-up," she said. "I mean, that's easier said than done. She's very, very poised, very balanced, incredibly athletic in terms of the lightness of her feet. She can get a shot off pretty easily, and if she's determined to do something, you'd better have a lot of determination to stop her."

Berger is averaging 12.7 points per game and scored 17 points in Sunday's win over Tennessee Tech in the first round. She added seven rebounds and a team-high four assists on the afternoon.

Another question mark for Monday is Indiana's leading scorer Mackenzie Holmes, who's averaging 22.3 points per game. The senior forward sat out Saturday due to left knee soreness. The program made it clear she was still available if needed.

The Hoosiers ended up not needing her as they won 77-47 to a solid Golden Eagles squad. 

Indiana is shooting 50 percent from the field compared to Miami's 43.4 percent and 76.5 percent from the free throw line to the Hurricanes' 72 percent. The Hoosiers also add a 37 percent clip from downtown to the arsenal.

As the field narrows, the challenges only get tougher to match and exceed Indiana's trip to the Sweet 16 last season where its NCAA Tournament run was cut short by UConn.
