Champaign Central baseball tops U-High again, wins third straight regional title
BLOOMINGTON — Put Max Quirk on the mound in a regional championship game against Normal U-High, and the Champaign Central baseball team thrives. Quirk and the Maroons added another piece of postseason hardware to the program’s history on Saturday with a 5-1 win against the Pioneers in a Class 3A Bloomington Regional title game.

After a scoreless 80 minutes the 1A state title game between Normal U-High and Rock Island Alleman headed to OT. With just under 4 minutes left in the first OT it was Charlise Carr who found the back of the net. The Pioneers take the 1-0 victory for their first state title.

The 49th annual Illinois High School Shrine football all-star game is scheduled for 11 a.m. June 17 at Tucci Stadium, on the campus of Illinois Wesleyan. Tickets for the game are $10 and available at the gate. The charity event, sponsored by the Illinois Coaches Association, raises money for the Shriners Hospital for Children. Last year, the event raised $22,000.
