Woman from Top Paw animal rescue charged with 3 misdemeanors
A 29-year-old rural Hudson woman who ran a troubled animal rescue has been criminally charged with three misdemeanors, accusing her of mistreating dogs and at least one cat. Erika F. Horton ran Top Paw Rescue in rural Hudson. McLean County Animal Control seized animals at Top Paw on March 16 after issuing a Notice of Impoundment, WGLT previously reported. The seizure notice cited allegations of animal hoarding and “humane care and treatment violations.”
Melissa Ostrom’s family encourages people to leave domestic violence situations
MCLEAN COUNTY, Ill. (WMBD) — The family of Melissa Ostrom warns others in domestic violence situations to get help. In April, Ostrom was reported missing by her Aunt Tami Bicknell and found dead a few days later. Bicknell along with other relatives were present in the courtroom on Wednesday for the suspect, Joshua Livingston’s, status hearing.

Normal Police Department looking for missing child
NORMAL, Ill. (WMBD)– Normal police are asking for the public’s help in locating a missing child. According to Normal Police Department Facebook, 13-year-old Cole Turner was last seen Wednesday around 2:30 p.m. Turner is described as 5’8″, 130 pounds, with brown eyes and long blonde hair.

Free gun safes to be distributed by Bloomington Police Department
The Bloomington Police Department plans to give away more than 300 combination-lock gun safes on June 10 in an effort to promote firearm storage safety. Bloomington residents who have a valid Firearm Owners Identification (FOID) card may present them to police at the Farmers Market downtown in exchange for a voucher. Woman from Normal pleads guilty to straw gun purchase used to kill police officer
A woman from Normal has admitted buying a 9 mm pistol and giving it to a man who used it to kill a police officer. Regina Lewis, 28, pleaded guilty in federal court Tuesday to the straw gun purchase in November 2020. Lewis bought the Glock 48 and ammunition in Indianapolis and lied on a federal form that she was the end user. Instead, Lewis admitted, she and co-defendant Ashantae Corruthers gave the weapon to Darion Lafayette and later told police in Indianapolis that the gun had been stolen.
