Matthew is a data scientist turned product manager who worked exclusively on the consumer side and mostly in news and personal finance... which in his words are two big sources of pain in people's lives that he thinks NewsBreak can make a lot less frustrating and more rewarding!
At NewsBreak, Matthew works on Content that comes from three places: Publishers, Contributors and Scraping, that includes how we understand that content and turn it into useful "topics" for users and the business. Contributor content includes how the team finds contributors and help them be successful on the app and for the users. Because of his data background, Matthew also helps with the Data Platform, which includes the tools NewsBreak uses for understanding metrics and running A/B tests.
Matthew's highlight at NewsBreak is walking to lunch with a big group from the Mountain View office!
Outside of work, Matthew plays curling (throwing stones on ice toward a target), and also loves cooking and doing projects around the house. He is a news junkie - and is curious to know everyone's favorite apps/experiences or what they're missing in the world of news!
