The 2023 Longhorn Legends were recently announced as Rhonda Howard and Ken Lamkin will be honored on Friday, Oct. 6 at 4:30 p.m. in the Early High School Student Activity Center and again at 6 p.m. at Longhorn Stadium, prior to Early’s District 2-3A Division II opener and homecoming contest against Ballinger.

MAY – The Class A Division I No. 7 May Tigers escaped with a 55-54 home victory over Fort Worth THESA Friday night, improving to 4-1 in the process. The Tigers generated 416 yards of total offense – 299 rushing and 117 passing – against TAIAO third-ranked THESA (1-3).
‘Out of the Box’ with Dallas Huston: The worm game
This I think occurred in the late 1970’s. I’m so old I can’t remember. But the Brownwood Lions were in the playoffs so I guess it was ’77 or ’78, in fact I think we went ahead and won State that year. We were playing in Waco that night in the second round of the playoffs and it’s a team that we beat fairly comfortably. Fact is, I think it’s the only time we ever played them and we won that night.
Brownwood-Stephenville FCA Challenge ongoing this week
During the Brownwood/Stephenville football game this Friday, Sept. 30, Brownwood FCA is challenging Stephenville FCA in a friendly funding raising competition. Each school will be raising money through fan donations during the first half of the game. Fans can donate inside the gate at the game, or anytime during the week of the game through Venmo at @BrownwoodareaFCA. All proceeds will go to the Huddle for each school with half going to the school’s camp fund, and half going to the school’s huddle to pay for snacks and other thing needed through out the year. It’s a friendly competition showing the schools can be rivals on the field, but united in Christ.
Lampasas tennis picks up hard-fought win over Brownwood
The Lampasas tennis team pulled out a close win over the Brownwood Lions last Thursday. “The past five years have been decided by one or two matches, and this year was just as close,” Badger head coach Kenneth Peiser.
