Two incidents occurred in Brownwood, Texas this week. The first incident involved an alleged drug deal that resulted in a shooting, but no one was injured. One person was arrested. The second incident was a three-car crash near Eldorado, which resulted in the death of a Brownwood woman.

This week in Comanche County, Texas, there were three incidents that occurred. A young man was killed in a crash on State Highway 16, the Comanche Police Department is searching for an armed and dangerous suspect, and a resident was bitten and scratched by a rabid cat. The authorities are actively investigating these incidents and taking necessary safety measures.

On Tuesday, September 19, at 8:38 a.m., Deputy Ricky Herring, was dispatched via telephone, to contact a complainant in reference to a livestock call. Herring made contact with the complainant who reported that on September 14, a Brown heifer cow with horns ear tag #260 wondered up onto his property located at C.R. 423. Several attempts were made to locate an owner of the cow both by the BCSO and the complainant to no avail. An Estray report was made, and arrangements were made for the complainant to transport the cow to the Brown County Sheriff’s Office holding pens at a later date.

Brown County will host two sessions for active shooter response training. The first session will be at the Zephyr ISD on the weekend of September30 – October 1, and the second session will be at the Blanket ISD on the weekend of October 14-15. The training is specifically designed for active shooting situations in schools. Any certified law enforcement officer in Texas may attend the training. There is no cost for the training.

The Brownwood Police Department made an arrest for assault and evading after a short pursuit. The incident occurred when officers responded to a report of a fight at a residence on Bowie Circle. The suspect, who was identified as leaving in a white SUV, was spotted by Officer James Wells leaving the area. Officer Wells attempted to initiate a traffic stop, but the driver refused to comply.

The Brownwood Police Department issued the following press release Friday morning:. On Friday, September 15, 2023, at approximately 12:45 a.m., officers were dispatched to a residence in the 100 block of Bowie Circle regarding the report of a fight. The caller informed communications that the suspect of the assault was leaving in a white SUV.

On September 12th at approximately 6:30pm, Early Police officers responded to a reckless driver call on Garmon Drive. Officers were then advised a red Toyota pickup had driven through someone’s yard then over a mailbox back onto the roadway and the vehicle had stopped in the 100 block of Garmon at the church parking lot.
