Haunted Florida bar celebrates 50 years with milestone costume party
The famously haunted Ginger's Place is throwing a milestone party the night before Halloween, celebrating 50 years in Jacksonville Beach, Florida. The popular bar, family-owned since it opened in 1976, will celebrate Friday, Oct. 30, ramping up to the spookiest day of the year — and yes, costumes are encouraged. Drink specials are also available from 7-11 p.m. during the festivities, according to the bar's Facebook page. Here's what we know. Can you dress up for Ginger's Place anniversary party? Yes! Costumes are encouraged, according to a Facebook post Ginger's Place shared advertising the celebration. "Join us for a fantastic party, dress in costume, 1976 to 2026!! We would like to thank Jacksonville Beach friends for keeping us in business 50 years," the post read. The post also said patrons might find themselves on the bar's Hall of Fame if they submit photos of themselves, either inside or outside the iconic bar, to 1976gingersplace@gmail.com. Is Ginger's Place haunted? Formerly a dress shop, the building reportedly dates back to the 1950s. Spirits are said to roam the establishment, allegedly including former owner and burlesque dancer Darlene Edith Payson, known as Ginger, after her death in 2003. Coins are found oddly placed
