
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. ( WIAT ) — Birmingham Police are currently investigating an unclassified death investigation Thursday afternoon.
Truman Fitzgerald with BPD stated that officers were dispatched to the 1500 block of Tuscaloosa Avenue on reports of a body in the area. They arrived and were led by a resident to the 500 block of 16th Street Southwest, where they found a decomposed body in a field near an alleyway.
Mom, 2 kids dead in Alabama home, police investigating At this time, the remains could not be identified as male or female. They are currently being examined by the Jefferson County Medical Examiner’s Office.
According to a news release from BPD, officers observed “suspicious circumstances surrounding the victim’s death.” In response, homicide and special victims unit detectives also responded to the scene.
