First Alert Weather: More scattered storms on Tuesday
Cooler air possible by the weekend
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WBRC) - We continue to track isolated storms lifting north across Greene and Pickens counties Monday evening. This activity is starting to weaken and will gradually dissipate. Lows overnight will be close to average, in the middle 60s.
We want to give you the First Alert for more scattered thunderstorms for Tuesday afternoon. There will be lots of sun in the mix. We will continue to see the random/scattered popups during the peak heating of the day, mainly after 2 p.m. We can’t rule out a strong to severe storm, with intense lightning, hail, and damaging wind gusts; highs will be near 90.
THE NEXT BIG THING: Rain chances will back off on Wednesday, with most areas staying dry. That said, we will need to be alert for a few isolated afternoon pop-ups. The rain coverage will increase again on Thursday as a front approaches from the northeast. If this front can cross our area, the next big thing will certainly be comfy nighttime conditions, with the possibility of lows in the 50s Saturday morning.
THE WEEKEND: After a pleasant/dry start Saturday, the heat and humidity will quickly return by Saturday afternoon. We could see a few isolated storms late Saturday, but I expect more numerous afternoon pop-ups on Sunday.
WEATHER RADIO EVENT WEDNESDAY: We will be programming weather radios from 2 p.m. until 6 p.m. on Wednesday in Eutaw at Mills Pharmacy. If you need to purchase a radio, they will be available at Mills. If you already have a weather radio, stop by and we can check to make sure it is programmed.
