BIRMINGHAM, AL. (WGXA) -- Shocking and tragic news of the death of 31-year-old Jermiera Ivory Fowler was released on Friday.
According to reports, Fowler was reported missing on Thursday, May 31, by Friday, June 1, the Birmingham Police Department had declared the missing person investigation a homicide investigation.
Reports of Fowler's last known location before her death was around 4:00 P.M. in the 500 Block of 41st Street North.
A white Nissa Versa Note that was registered to her, was found. Officers said Fowler planned to meet with someone pertaining to a purchase on Facebook Market Place.
Sadly, she did not return from that planned meeting, and investigators have not yet revealed whether her death is connected to it.
In a social post, the Birmingham Police Department said, "BPD cannot confirm that this tragedy stemmed from a Facebook Marketplace meet-up. "
Local media coverage reported that just after 9:00 P.M. on June 2, East Precinct Officers responded to the 200 block of Sellers Road in reference to reports of a burned body.
Speaking on behalf of the BPD in a video, Officer Truman Fitzgerald said that upon law enforcement's arrival, Fowler's body was still on fire.
Fitzgerald said firefighters extinguished the flames and officers observed "signs of trauma" on Fowler's body.
As of Saturday, no reports of a person of interest or suspect in custody have been reported.

Fowler's own Facebook page described her as an entrepreneur and digital creator, and native of Atlanta Georgia.
