San Antonio's city operations could be facing significant changes as City Manager Erik Walsh has scheduled discussions around two high-profile issues this week: the performance of City Attorney Andy Segovia and the ongoing contract negotiations with the local firefighters' union. Breaking Trail in Socorro
New options for outdoor recreation, patio dining, and galaxy gazing make Socorro a must-visit this summer. INTIMIDATING, SHARP PINK BLUFFS FACE the trailhead, but the path wraps around to follow a sloping ridgeline. Rob Selina brought me here because it’s his favorite hike, and likely for sentimental reasons too: As the “head wrangler” for Socorro Trails, he helped build it.
Softball Game Preview: Hatch Valley Hits the Road
The Hatch Valley Bears will head out on the road to square off against the Socorro Warriors at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Hatch Valley has five straight wins, Socorro has five straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Socorro was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They lost 11-1 to the Hatch Valley Bears. Socorro was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Hatch Valley apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in April of 2023.

San Antonio City Council Members Call for Accountability from City Attorney Amid Transparency Concerns
Five members of the San Antonio City Council appear to have had enough of City Attorney Andy Segovia's handling of various city issues. The group, representing half of the city's chief governing body, submitted a memo calling for a special meeting to question Segovia's fitness for his role. The internal dispute centers on allegations of Segovia's lack of transparency, particularly regarding contract negotiations with the local firefighters' union.
