8 Big Shows Coming to Alberta Bair Theater For Its 2023-2024 Season

What does a Comedy Festival, Dirty Dancing,  Jesus Christ Superstar, southern rock and acapaella groups have in common? They’ll all be playing at Alberta Bair Theater for their 2023-2024 season! The lineup looks absolutely stacked this year, which is why we want to highlight seven of the biggest upcoming attractions.

1. The Marshall Tucker Band – 7/9/23

Playing since 1973, The Marshall Tucker Band is an essential part of U.S. Southern Rock. Their music influenced Lyndyrd Skynyrd, Collective Soul, and Charlie Daniels never got tired of seeing them play. They’re known for their songs “Searchin’ For a Rainbow” and “Heard It In A Love Song”, they’ve released 20 studio albums.

2. Big Sky Comedy Festival – 09/23/23

Taking place over 5 days, the Big Sky Comedy Festival is one of the nation’s top comedy festivals. Over 1000 applicants are narrowed down to 26 top contenders to perform in front of Billings and industry executives looking to find the next big thing.

3. Straight No Chaser – 10/21/23

Straight No Chaser is a massively popular male acapella group who will be coming to Billings for their “Sleighin’ It Tour”. They’ve sold over 2 million albums worldwide and will likely be performing some Christmas classics for their stop in Billings.

4. World Ballet Series: Cinderella – 10/22/23

Featuring a multinational cast of over 40 professional dancers, the show will feature an intricately crafted take on the fairy tale classic. With hand-sewn costumes, a beautiful score, and hand-crafted sets, its a version of the story you haven’t seen before.

5. Dirty Dancing In Concert – 11/10/23

For the first time ever, the classic 80’s film Dirty Dancing will be performed as a live film-to-concert performance. Musicians and singers will perform the iconic songs live while the movie plays on a full-size cinema screen.

6. Jesus Christ Superstar – 11/29/23

For its 50th anniversary, Jesus Christ Superstar is coming back to the stage. Continuing the award-winning 2017 production, the show pays tribute to the classic show while offering a modern spin.

7. The Book of Mormon – 1/16/24-1/17/24

Written by the creators of South Park, this riotous musical pokes fun at about every aspect of religion you can think of. Named  “the best musical of this century.” by The New York Times, it will be a laugh-filled night out. (But be sure to leave the kids at home).

8. Hairspray – 2/27/24

The classic 60’s Musical Hairspray is coming back to stages with an all-new touring production. Director Jack O’Brien and Choreographer Jerry Mitchell return to bring the musical comedy to life. Now you have a chance to see the show the New Yorker called an “exhilaratingly funny and warm-hearted musical comedy”.
