BIDDEFORD (WGME) –- University of New England students are helping to detect sharks in Saco Bay.

UNE says the shark detection buoy will help the state monitor populations and promote education and public safety.
The school worked with Massachusetts Marine Fisheries, Maine Department of Marine Resources and the Atlantic White Shark Conservancy.
