Bethany Police Search For Burglary Suspect After Early-Morning Chase

Bethany police say one person is in custody and a search is underway for a second in connection to a burglary at an apartment complex on Saturday morning.

According to police, it started after officers received a call about a burglary in progress at the Western Oaks Apartments near Northwest 23rd Street and North Glade Avenue at around 7:40 a.m. When officers arrived on scene, they found two trucks parked across the street from the complex at a gas station. Police approached the vehicles and say they both fled from the scene in opposite directions.

Officers followed one of the trucks until it crashed into some cars and the suspect fled from the vehicle on foot and ran into another nearby apartment complex.

Police say that is when a good Samaritan approached officers and informed them that the suspect was hiding on the second floor of the complex. Officers say they found Rahston Allenbaugh, who was then taken into custody.

Police say they are still working to find more information on the other vehicle that fled from the scene.
