Lac Vieux Desert Band of Lake Superior Chippewa Indians community hosts drug awareness event
WATERSMEET, Mich. (WLUC) - Data from the National Institute of Drug Abuse shows over 100,000 people have died from drug-involved overdoses from 1999 to 2021. Gogebic County activists are trying to bring that number down in our community. Lac Vieux Desert (LVD) Band of Lake Superior Chippewa Indians community gathered to create a presentation event about drug prevention. This event was held at the Northern Waters Casino in Watersmeet. LVD Healing to Wellness Court Officer Amanda Bett stated that preventing more deaths starts with events like this.
