BRIANNA. WE BEGIN WITH A BIG UPDATE THIS MORNING. WE FIRST BROKE THIS STORY LAST NIGHT AT TEN ALBUQUERQUE MOUNTAIN RESCUE TELLING US FIVE PEOPLE ARE NOW SAFE AFTER A SEARCH AND RESCUE MISSION AT THE TOP OF THE LA BLUES TRAIL. IT HAPPENED NEAR THE SAN DIEGO CREST. OFFICIALS SAY THEY GOT THE CALL AROUND 530 YESTERDAY AFTERNOON AND LAST NIGHT FINALLY GOT THE HIKERS TO SAFETY. FIRST RESPONDERS CONTINUING TO URGE PEOPLE TO PREPARE FOR WINTER CONDITIONS WHEN HIKING. IT’S JUST IT’S STILL CRAZY UP HERE. IT IS FULL ON WINTER. WE HAVE BEEN OUT OF WINTER LIKE THIS IN YEARS. Three hikers were involved in a search and rescue mission at the top of the La Luz trail. Bernalillo County Fire Department crews made contact with the hikers around 8 p.m. Friday.The three hikers were all treated for hypothermia, but were not seriously injured in the incident. The lost hikers were part of a group of five; but two of the hikers were able to hike on while the others needed to be rescued.Rescue crews are urging hikers to dress for winter like conditions on the La Luz trail."It's full on winter. We haven't had a winter like this in years," Steve Larese with the Albuquerque Mountain Rescue said. "The snow is covering the signs and the guard rails up top. Just please don't attempt La Laz, unless you have appropriate winter gear."Other crews assisting in the rescue included Bernalillo County Fire, Bernalillo County Sheriff's Office, Cibola Search and Rescue along with New Mexico State Search and Rescue.
