VAN BUREN, Maine — A small group of northern Mainers may have once again broken world records with its most recent ice carousel. The Northern Maine Ice Busters, a group which currently holds the world record for the largest ever ice carousel, may have shattered five new records over the weekend when it carved out the first ever international ice carousel between the United States and Canada.

Legislator proposes amendment banning noncitizen voting

The Maine Legislature is considering an amendment to the Maine Constitution that would ban noncitizen voting in Maine, a practice that is already prohibited under state law. LD 175, “RESOLUTION, Proposing an Amendment to the Constitution of Maine to Ensure That Only Citizens of the United States May Participate in Elections,” is sponsored by Rep. Laurel Libby (R-Dist. 64, Auburn). Passage would prohibit noncitizens from voting in any county, municipal, state, or school board elections.

Maine Storm Update: Two Inches of Rain, Snow Possible by Monday Night

Caribou, ME – A mix of rain and snow is expected across Maine on Monday as temperatures drop sharply following a mild start to the week. According to the National Weather Service in Caribou, high temperatures Monday will reach near 50 degrees in the morning before a cold front moves in, bringing temperatures down to the 30s in northern areas and the 40s in Downeast Maine by late afternoon. Rainfall totals could exceed two inches Downeast, with up to three-quarters of an inch expected across northern regions.

Update: Man arrested after crash on Maine Turnpike shut down southbound lanes for hours

FALMOUTH, Maine (WMTW) - A Lewiston man has been arrested after an early morning crash involving two cars, shutdown the southbound lanes of Interstate 95 for several hours.
