Belton, Tx (FOX44) – UPDATE: The victim involved in the fatal auto-pedestrian accident in Belton has been identified.
The Belton Police Department has identified 23-year-old Nicholas Ramirez as the man who died as he was attempting to cross Main Street – near Martin Luther King, Jr. Avenue – on Friday morning.
City of Belton spokesman Paul Romer said the accident occurred around 6:13 a.m. Friday. North Main Street was temporarily closed between 6th and 10th Streets.
Police said Ramirez was struck by a car as he was crossing in the area. He was given CPR at the scene, and was transported by ambulance to Baylor Scott & White Medical Center in Temple – where he was later pronounced dead.
The street that was closed during the investigation has since been opened.
