Morgan Lenehan scored 13 points and Rylee Vancura had 11 points as Shiner faced La Vernia in the Lady Comanches’ first tournament game, falling 57-48. Stanley Lewis Bias, 75, of Gonzales, went home to the arms of his precious Lord and Savior, November 21, 2023 after a 3-year battle with pancreatic cancer. Stan was born in Bakersfield, CA on November 21, 1948 to MT Bias and Dessie Samples. After the death of his dad, the family moved to Stratford, TX. He was drafted into the US Army and served in Vietnam from 1968 to 1969. While serving he also earned his GED.
Missing Houston area man last known to have visited Seguin
(Seguin) – Seguin and Guadalupe County is being asked to be on the lookout for a man reported missing from Pecos County. According to the Pecos County Sheriff’s Office, Justin Urrutia, 41, went missing from Seguin on Nov. 6, 2023. Justin lives in Sugar Land, Texas but had traveled to Seguin.

Elizabeth “Betty” Otelia Reese Pettus died Monday, November 20, 2023, in Gonzales. She was born on December 12, 1938, to Henry Carlos Reese III and Claytie Woods Pace Reese in Gonzales, Texas. Elizabeth was a graduate of the Gonzales High School Class of 1956 and the University of Texas with a teaching certificate. After graduation, she taught school for several years. On August 14, 1964, she married William Thomas Pettus, Jr. She was a member of the Presbyterian Church of Gonzales, Texas. She was preceded in death by her father, her mother, her husband, her brother Henry Reese IV, and her sister Claytie Reese. She is survived by her sister Susan Brent Najvar, brother-in-law, Michael Najvar, niece Samantha Kehl, niece Kasey Reese Floyd, nephew, Noel Henry Reese and numerous nieces and nephews.

Oscar Samuel Grant III was born November 1, 1962, to Jennie Taylor and Oscar S. Grant II in Gonzales, Texas. Oscar confessed Christ at an early age at Providence Baptist Church. Our father Oscar left this world on November 11, 2023, at the age of 61. He will always hold a special place in our hearts. Our dad was a talented musician and drummer. Growing up he played in his family’s band, with his brothers, sister and father. They performed in various places around the area and loved doing it. He took a lot of pride and loved music, whether it came to playing the drums or being a connoisseur of different genres of music.
