Allegany County Court May 2023 Indictments

BELMONT, NY – The Allegany County District Attorneys Office reports that Jessica Morrison of Wellsville, has been indicted by an grand jury in connection with the fire earlier this month at 46 Broad Street in the Village of Wellsville. The charges are Arson 2nd and Reckless Endangerment 1st, as well as 2nd degree Criminal Mischief.
Officials say that Morrison will be arraigned on the indictment in Allegany County Court at a later date.

Also, the D.A.’s office in Belmont reports that Gabriel Babbitt has been convicted of Assault in the 2nd degree. Babbitt admitted in court that she committed an assault with a pair of scissors back on August 21, 2022, which caused physical injury to the victim. Babbitt will be sentenced on August 3, and faces the possibility of a state prison sentence.

In other court proceeding held on Thursday, May 25, the D.A.’s office tells us, that Cody Hogue was convicted in Allegany County Court of the top charge of Burglary 3rd (a class D felony) following a break-in at Hanson Farms in Belmont on November 17th, 2022. Hogue will now spend the next 1 – 3 years in state prison in accordance with the sentence handed down by the court.
