Another Round of Storms Friday Night, Drier This Weekend
Sunshine is back out for Friday. It will be a little warmer, with highs in the low 70s, and rain holding off for most of the day. However, another round of rain and storms arrives after 10 p.m. in eastern Nebraska from the west... and will push into Omaha closer to midnight. Storms then continue through western Iowa and northwest Missouri overnight. While more heavy rain is likely for most cities, there isn't much of a concern for anything severe.
Council Bluffs Recycling Center removing Hy-Vee drop-off site
COUNCIL BLUFFS, Iowa (WOWT) - The Council Bluffs Recycling Center is removing one of its drop-off locations after “repeated arson attacks and contamination issues.”. CBRC says the recycling drop-off bins at the Hy-Vee at 2323 West Broadway are being taken out. The center says the fires have posed a safety hazard, and that frequent contamination is rendering its efforts ineffective.

Omaha's mayor wants to reallocate funds to assist those affected by tornado
OMAHA, Neb. — Mayor Jean Stothert is seeking Omaha City Council's approval of $100,000 to help families that were affected by the tornado. The funds that were approved in the 2024 budget by city council were to be distributed through the annual Neighborhood Grants program. The mayor wants to reallocate those funds to two Tornado Relief Funds.
