Driver injured after swerving for moose in Essex County
MAIDSTONE — A New Hampshire man sustained possible concussion injuries early Monday morning after his vehicle crashed on Vt Route 102. Dylan Carney, 27, of Clarksville, was driving northbound around 5:31 a.m. when he attempted to avoid a moose, causing him to lose control of his 2018 Chevrolet Trax.
DUI charges following single-vehicle crash in Morgan
MORGAN — Troopers responded to a single-vehicle crash on VT RT 111 near Twin Camps Rd at 7:37 p.m. Thursday where they arrested a Derby woman for suspected impaired driving. Tara Cote, 35, of Derby, was driving her 2022 Audi Q3 when she crashed, causing front-end damage to her vehicle.

Man arrested for second DUI after found unconscious at Orleans Maplefields
ORLEANS — A 23-year-old Charleston man was arrested late Tuesday night on suspicion of his second DUI after being found unconscious at a gas station. Vermont State Police responded to a call at 9:49 p.m. at the Maplefields gas station in Orleans, where they found Andrew Merrill unresponsive at the gas pumps.
Police find body of missing Maine man believed killed after a search that took nearly a year
STARK, N.H. (AP) — Police in Maine said they have found the body of a man who was the victim of a killing after a search that took nearly a year. The body of 34-year-old Alex Jackson of Windham, Maine, was recovered in the area of Stark, New Hampshire, on Friday, police said. They did not release the cause of Jackson’s death. Jackson was reported missing in May 2023. Police arrested Joseph Chute, 30, of Leeds, Maine, and charged him with murder in March stemming from Jackson’s death. Chute’s lawyer, Verne Paradise, tried to have the charges against Chute dismissed last week on the basis that no body had been found, the Portland Press Herald reported. Paradise told the Press Herald that the discovery of Jackson’s body did not change his position that Chute is innocent.
