Cleveland City Council hires redistricting consultants; Reappraisal headwind for CMSD levy
Get the redistricting markers ready. Cleveland City Council President Blaine Griffin has picked a team of consultants to help him redraw ward boundaries this year. The stakes are high for council’s 17 members. Thanks to Cleveland’s declining population, Griffin must cut council to 15 wards. That means as many as four council members will have to duke it out in the next election for the remaining musical chairs.
Fallen veterans honored in Streetsboro ceremonies
Veterans groups honored fallen soldiers Sunday in Streetsboro as they traveled in their annual "Round Robin" visit to various sites for observances. Among the stops was a service Sunday morning at Evergreen Cemetery, where American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars posts. From there, the group traveled to Woodside Lake Park, where wreaths were laid in the water in honor of those who died at sea. Many other Portage County-area communities hosted events to honor fallen soldiers on Sunday and Monday.
